We drover down to Alonzo's and arrived about 2am Thursday morning. It was a long drive down and I got really grumpy with Joe the last 30min but the girls did great.
We spent the first few days with Alonzo's, visiting family, seeing friends, enjoying the SUN! We finally saw the sun for the first time in months and had to use sun block.
It was hard to leave the girls in July 5th at 5am. They were both asleep for one and I was officially done breastfeeding which was also sad. I really enjoyed the special time with Natalia for the last 11 months and was sad for it all to end.
We picked up Kelly at his house and hit the road to Tahoe. As we got closer to Tahoe the weather got better and better. More sun, more warmth and the sweet smell of freedom. Joe and I finally had no responsibilities and how strange was that. As much as we REALLY missed the kids it was kind of nice to just be. Thank you to Grandma, Grandpa and uncle Davy for watching them!
As we arrived in Tahoe about 1pm we got the news that we would be going into the Rubicon that evening around 4pm. This was a day earlier than planned so the race was on to get everything ready to go. We arrived at Kelly's family cabin and got organized and shopped for food.
The drive to the trail head is only about 15 min away.
We met up with the group that would be in our caravan for the week. This included Dustin(D-Flo), Papa Flo, Kirk(Diggler) and "Diamond".
The tires were aired down and it was Rubicon time!
The first few miles are pretty tame, there are a few water crossings but since you are going like 10 MPH it's slow moving. We were all VERY pumped up about the next few days.
The excitement of everything got the best of Kelly when he took over driving for Kirk.
There was a little misshap that caused some dammage and the Scout had to limp back out of the Rubicon to be fixed which meant we would be continuing on with two less people and now we would be doing Cadillac Hill in the dark. Cadillac Hill is extream in the day but at night it's very danerous. One wrong move and you could roll off the cliff.
We made it into camp about 11pm and I know I was ready to just call it a night.
The next morning was beautiful and once that sun hit the tent I was ready to get up and enjoy some camp coffee and eat some breakfast cooked by Papa Flo.
Even though it was dark when we arrived the night before we picked a perfect site at Rubicon Springs.
The Scout was fixed and they met us at our camp and we went out to play and take a few silly pictures!
And play some more...
Before the Scout broke again...
Then it was back to camp to lick it's wounds.
To be continued...
